I went for an hour's hillwalking early this morning before breakfast. I was still 10 min away from home when the allotted hour was up. My heels were beginning to hurt and I confess I lost my confidence for a couple of minutes. I almost asked to be collected home. But no, I sat down to rest for a couple of minutes, wriggling my ankles about and... walked backwards for a few steps. Blessed relief! There was no one about so early in the morning so no one so me. He, he. I arrived home to fatigue but full of happy endorphins. Glad that I have done over an hour's walk for the first time in over two years. I love exercise.

PS I am doing this for myself as much as anything so I will log it here: 'have had pain in the jaw joint since yesterday (which interferes with eating), which had not happened for over a year. Let's hope it's the after effect of having been off the Enbrel for 2 weeks recently because of a persistent Staph infection. So, I am back to range of movement exercises for my jaw.

Hi Alice,

Well you have got me motivated, like I said I have all this equipment not getting used, I made a pack with myself in the beginning of this RA to remain positive and lose weight, I have always been positive, so now the exercise starts. I did 10 mins vigorous cycling on my exercise bike and on my bench I did Ten 20lb Back and Pectoral muscles. Then Ten 40lb Calf and Quadriceps muscles. Feel good but thats enough for today. It's not much but a start I will continue. Lorna Smile

I was fatigued after this morning's walk but that soon fizzled out. I had a stage of saying I was fatigued "all the time" until I read somewhere about timing it. It comes in waves! and yes, sure, maybe two or three times a day but I realised I wasn't tired "all the time".

So... After this morning's walk, I went ahead with a gym session. Only did 5 min of warm-up on the treadmill and then spent time doing arms and leg exercises. I am finally getting the hang of what it is do weightlifting, having had to go very cautiously to begin with re. fatigue. Loved it.

In the meantime, the mounds of paperwork at home are waiting...
